We’re big fans of The Balvenie family here, and it’s hard to find somebody that wont appreciate the hard work of master blender David Stewart, so we were pretty excited to hear their 2 new offerings are coming to select states in the US in late October. The Balvenie TUN 1509 Batch 1 and the Single Barrel, Traditional Oak, aged 25 years.
The Balvenie TUN 1509 Batch 1
TUN 1509 is a blend of 42 casks – 35 traditional American oak and 7 European oak sherry barrels, from Balvenie’s aged stocks. All 42 casks were transferred to warehouse 24 for several months before bottling.
The Balvenie Single Barrel Traditional Oak, Aged 25 Years
This new single barrel is now the top example in Balvenie’s portfolio, sitting atop the First Fill 12 year old and the Sherry Cask 15 year old. Because no two casks will ever produce an identical single malt, this is a rare opportunity to try a true traditional American oak single barrel. The labels will carry hand-numbered dates for distillation, bottling, and cask number.
It’s time to start calling your favorite liquor stores to see if you can reserve one of these.

Announcing the launch of two new whiskies to savor this fall
As a valued Warehouse 24 member, we want you to be among the first to hear about the US launch of two new whiskies from the hand of Malt Master David Stewart. Please join us in welcoming The Balvenie TUN 1509 & The Balvenie Single Barrel TRADITIONAL OAK Aged 25 Years to our family of handcrafted single malts.
Nurtured by the longest–serving Malt Master in Scotch whisky history, these exceptional releases exemplify David Stewart’s half century of unmatched expertise and lifetime of dedication to his craft.
This first batch of TUN 1509 follows nine batches of the ever-popular TUN 1401 and has allowed David Stewart to continue showcasing his unique marrying technique. In crafting this whisky, Stewart has once again pulled together whiskies from several decades to produce an expression of The Balvenie that is greater than the sum of its constituent parts. He’s carefully hand-selected 42 of the finest casks — 35 traditional American oak barrels and seven European oak sherry butts — from the distillery’s precious aged stocks before allowing them to settle in the eponymous marrying vessel for several months.
Also coming this fall, The Balvenie Single Barrel Traditional Oak, Aged 25 Years will complete our Single Barrel range and complement the flavor profiles of the 12yo FIRST FILL and 15yo SHERRY CASK, which many of you have been enjoying since their release in Spring 2013 and Spring 2014, respectively. The Balvenie Single Barrel Traditional Oak Aged 25 Years is drawn from a refill American oak barrel, resulting in a limited edition of no more than 300 hand-numbered bottles drawn from a single cask, making every bottle unique and unrepeatable.
Both expressions will appear in select states across the US from late October.
