Johnny Walker Green Label Blended Malt Scotch – My 1st Review

This 15 year aged blend including: Talisker, Linkwood, Cragganmore, Caol Ila. Powerful in the flavors and much more effervescent when new.

This is my first review. Not because it’s my favorite scotch (it’s not) nor because it’s my first scotch (it’s not) but because I’ve recently decided to review everything I have, and this bottle is almost gone.

So without further ado:

Johnny Walker – Green Label 15 year aged blend

Including: Talisker, Linkwood, Cragganmore, Caol Ila. ABV: 43% $80, Purchased Christmas 2011.

Green label 15-main

  • Color:
  • Apple juice, medium caramel

  • Neat: Nose:
  • Floral fruits, vanilla hints, spices? Taste: Some plastics, floral. Very slight finish.
After a few drops of water: Nose: Sweeter, more grains, fruits, pear and soft slight citrus

  • Taste:
  • Lighter, like a vanilla cake with tasteless icing. Generic floral and spices. Effervescent.

  • Finish:
  • Pistachios, hint of stone fruits, late acidic smoke.
Balance: 8.5/10. Nothing too strong Complexity: 7/10. Kind of flat

Overall: 80/100

Would buy again? Maybe. I’d have to drink it faster. Was more powerful in the flavors and much more effervescent when it was new. Hasn’t aged as well as some of my other bottles. Would have scored much better new.

Can’t buy again though (at least not in Ontario).
