Bushmills 16 Single Malt – The Whiskey that Thinks it’s a Whisky

40%ABV – $66.00USD

Background – This is an Irish single malt offering from Bushmills that is aged in 3 steps. For 16 years their spirit is matured in bourbon and oloroso sherry casks and then transfered to port wine barrels for an undisclosed period of time. While the 10 year is just awful in comparison, the 16 is a real standout in Bushmill’s lineup.

Not My Favorite Irishman – Bushmills 10 Single Malt

  • Colour: Golden Amber
  • Nose: Light. First impressions are Grains (Malt, Toast with Margarine), Straw/Hay and Dried Fruits (Raisins and Sultanas) followed by Nuts, Oak, light Fruity tones (Apple, Banana with light Honey, White Grapes and Coconuts), Milk Chocolate, Lemon Peel and the faintest hint of Sherry. Grains are rather dominating the Nose. The other flavours, while not unpleasant, are rather understated for a 10 Year old Single Malt.
